From the Louisiana cotton fields to the Aerospace industry – history is brought to life. Lisa Scinto speaks to schools, universities, and community organizations, bringing history, education, and lived experiences together in powerful and meaningful ways. Drawing from her personal journey and her book, Sentenced to Death at Thirteen: A Multigenerational Journey from the Louisiana Cotton Fields to the Aerospace Industry—and Beyond, Lisa connects the past to the present—helping audiences understand not only where we’ve been, but what is possible moving forward.

Motivated by a deep commitment to education and equity, Lisa is a former high school chemistry and physics teacher, a former high school principal, and author. Her work has appeared in local newspapers, and in 2024 she won a National Public Radio (NPR) essay contest for her piece, 

“The Quality of Education in America Is Often Determined by Your Zip Code.”
